The course ‘Laboratory Digital Innovation and Management’ offers a laboratory activity consisting of the development and realization of a new product or its component by applying product innovation tools in the current industrial context.
In particular, a product will be designed using CAD, analyzing the costs and time required for production. Students will also develop management considerations on commercialization, market potential and economic feasibility.
During the workshop, topics such as:
- Tools for new product development from a management perspective: strategic planning, identification of market needs, new product concept, economic feasibility, intellectual property.
- Meaning of ‘digital factory’ and ‘digital manufacturing’
- Notes on intelligent production systems.
At the end of the course, students will have acquired both theoretical and applicative knowledge and skills related to the field of digital innovation and the product innovation process in the manufacturing sector, mastering technological and management aspects. In particular, students will know how to analyze the commercial and economic implications of additive manufacturing technologies and will learn to master different software for modelling, printing, process simulation, creating a sort of digital twin.
